Fishing ban for 61 Days in Andhra Pradesh
This decision taken by Andhra Pradesh government in order to provide some facilities and financial assistance fisherman families. Fishing activity is a suspended from April 15th to 14 june 2026. And Matsyakara Sevalo Scheme 2026 is ensuring that fisherman’s families do not face any financial hardship, during this ban period.

The government is providing 20000 rupees assistance to eligible families. The NDA government promised in its election manifesto to increase financial assistance from 10000 to 20000 rupees. By keeping their promise and full filling the Assurance government had provided 20000 per family. The this year both number of beneficiaries and total allocation have increased it to Rs 20,000 per family.
The agriculture and fisheries minister explain that increase in beneficiary families and continuation of the scheme reflect government commitment towards fisherman’s welfare.
Apart from seasonal assistance government also providing compensation to the families of fishermen who died in accident while fishing. He also said that compensation amounting rs 3.25 crore was released for 63 claims during 2024-25, while Rs 5.65 core was cleared for 113 pending claims in this year. Government also promoting seaweed cultivation among coastal community to provide fisherman income and create alternative livelihood opportunities.
