CHB Sector 53 Housing Scheme Refund Process, How to check status

The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) is most awaited and well-known for launching housing schemes for residents of Chandigarh. Among the Chandigarh housing board schemes, the CHB Sector 53 housing scheme received a huge response when it was launched. Many applicants have applied, hoping to get a flat in Chandigarh. However, not everyone can be allotted a flat in such schemes because of the limited number of units and a high number of applications.

CHB has announced the refund process for those who were unsuccessful in the draw. If you have applied for the scheme but did not get a flat, you will receive your CHB Sector 53 Housing Scheme Refund directly into your bank account.

After conducting a demand survey, which received an enthusiastic response, the board has decided to refund the nearly 7.5 crore collected from the applicants. In this demand survey, which ended on March 3rd, 7,468 applicants are vying for 372 flats across three categories, nearly 20 applicants per unit, reflecting a strong demand. To confirm their interest, the applicants had deposited 10000 rupees for high-income group (HIG), and middle-income group (MIG) flats, and 5000 rupees for the economically weaker section (EWS).

There was a strong hike in the city Collector rates, which took effect from the first of April. The flat prices went up by 35% to 45%, throwing the project into uncertainty. When the demand survey was conducted just a few weeks before the new Collector rates were implemented, the estimated cost for three-bedroom, two-bedroom, and two-bedroom EVS flats was 1.65 crore, 1.40 crore, and 55 lakh, respectively.
