To solve this problem government has introduced the Palakmantri Makan Dukan Scheme. This is a specially designed facility to provide a combined facility of house and shop to eligible families. After implementing this government wants to improve the living standards of small traders and at the same time give them a permanent place to run their business.

According to Kolhapur ZPs chief executive officer this is came will be launched a throw women and child welfare department, jila Parishad, kolhapur utilising 10% of Zila Parishad self fund Corpus. The under this is came government to target completing more than 50000 houses under Pradhanmantri Aawas Yojana and other housing scheme. With a brother state goal of 65000 homes out of which 50000 are expected to be completed in December 2025. Additionally 25,000 houses will also receive free solar electricity under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
Rural Women of Kolhapur who completed the construction of their house under the government housing scheme after April 2025 are eligible. Priority will be given to women below the poverty line and those completing the house within a hundred days. The house must be registered in the woman’s name, and shops must be set up within or adjacent to the new home, with a mandatory no-objection certificate from the Gram Panchayat. And each beneficiary receives 30000 in financial aid for shop expenses on capital and essential goods. The beneficiaries must continue the grocery business for at least 3 years, for which a legal undertaking will be required, along with certification from the Block Development Officer.
The scheme is designed to ensure that women will not only get a house but also a sustainable livelihood, enhancing self-reliance, entrepreneurial skills, and economic stability.
